In preparation for the 2013-14 Pioneer hockey season, the University of Denver Athletic and Recreation Department, in conjunction with DU Student Life, will host several events this weekend surrounding student hockey tickets going on sale.
The weekend begins with The BIG EVENT as student activities have been paired up with over 20 local businesses and campus organizations. Activities include, but not limited to: relay games, an outdoor movie, archery tag, broomball, tie-dying, flashlight tag, karaoke, open ice skate with the men’s hockey team, kickball, a pie eating contest and free food. All of these activities are free to DU students.
Visit The BIG EVENT Facebook Event Page for more information.
Students are encouraged to bring their camping gear, pitch their tents on the north lawn and then take part in the activities offered. The weekend concludes with one of Denver Athletics’ most popular traditions with the Annual Hockey Student Season Ticket Campout. DU hockey student season tickets go on sale at 8 a.m. MT on Saturday morning at the Ritchie Center North Box Office. The price is $20 for students – if the season ticket is purchased on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
The DU hockey coaching staff and Pioneer hockey players are expected to greet the faithful DU students Saturday morning with doughnuts.
The Pioneers will open the 2013-14 season on Sunday, Oct. 6 with an exhibition contest against the University of New Brunswick before getting the regular season underway on Friday, Oct. 11 vs. Merrimack. Both games will be played at Magness Arena.
