DU students are encouraged to attend the #SameHere Sit-Down on Tuesday, January 15, in Hamilton Gymnasium. The event is produced by The Global Mental Health Alliance: We’re All A Little “Crazy”, and admission is free.
This event will feature opportunities for candid and revealing conversations with highly accomplished athletes, musicians and members of the news media, as well as the Founder of WAALC and The #SameHere Movement. The event will also feature a live musical performance from a talented artist. You will hear firsthand from the individuals above about the mental and emotional challenges they have encountered in their pursuit of excellence, along with a range of coping strategies they have developed in response.
This openness will be delivered through individual story-telling, panel discussion, and open dialogue between you and these special guests. The result will be a shift in culture that creates a “comforting environment” on campus where it is readily apparent that everyone faces life challenges, and asking for help, getting that help, and finding success is not only possible, but is seen as a sign of strength.
Attending the event will be:
- Theo Fleury: Olympic Gold Medalist and Stanley Cup Champion
- Anita Nall-Richesson: Olympic Champion and former world record-holder in swimming
- Eric Kussin: 15-year professional sports executive and founder of the #SameHere Movement
