Fun Facts

  • There are ten snowboarding events: men’s and women’s events in the halfpipe, parallel giant slalom, snowboard cross, slopestyle and parallel slalom. Parallel slalom and slopestyle are new in 2014.
  • Snowboarding is considered to have been invented by the Austrian Jack Burchett, who created the first modern board out of ordinary plywood in 1929.
  • Snowboarding was included for the first time in 1998 in Nagano.

Balance and Strength

Shaun focuses on combining his gym workouts with balance.

One-Leg Balance: See how long you can balance on one leg on a BOSU ball. For an added challenge, shift your weight to the ball of your foot and lift your heel off the ground.

BOSU Squats: 5 sets of 10-12 reps on the BOSU ball

Medicine Ball Throws: Balance on the BOSU ball while someone throws a weighted medicine ball at you
