Every day during competition in Sochi, we’ll highlight a different sport or event, including fun facts and athlete workouts for you to try!
- In speed skating, athletes travel a defined distance as fast as possible. The traditional length of the track is 400 meters.
- Men compete in 500, 1000, 1500, 5000 and 10,000 meter events, and complete 8 laps in the team pursuit race. Women compete in 500, 1000, 1500, 3000 and 5000 meter events and in a 6-lap team pursuit race.
- The first speed skating events were held in Great Britain in 1763.

Bulgarian Split Squat: 3-4 sets (on each leg) of 6-10 reps
Single-Leg Romanian Deadlift: 3-4 sets of 6-10 reps
Sled Drag/Lunge Walks: 3-4 sets (on each leg) of 8-10 reps
Dumbbell Squat Jumps: 3-4 sets of 8-10 reps
Drop Lunges: 3-4 sets (on each leg) of 8-10 reps
Ice Skaters: 3-4 sets of 6-10 reps
