Fun Facts

  • There are five biathlon events for men and five for women: individual race, sprint, pursuit, mass start race and relay; and there is also the mixed relay.
  • Biathlon events were postponed only twice, and both times were in Japan.
  • Military patrol competitions are believed to be the forerunners of biathlon events.




Extreme Endurance Workout

Lowell recommends trying this workout over a six-day period, completing one exercise each day. You can also shorten the reps/sets and complete in a single day.

Run: 4 4-minute reps (either running uphill or on a treadmill)

Bike: 90 minutes with 12 15-second sprints mixed in

Long-Distance Run: Start with a one-hour run, and build up to a 2-4 hour run

“Natural” Interval Training: 90 minutes running or biking on a hill

Steady Distance Run: One-hour run with an emphasis on form and relaxatio
