Youth hockey doesn't end in the winter! Join the Jr. Pioneers for spring hockey with the 2022 Spring Development Program!
The Jr. Pioneers Hockey Spring Development Program offers a competitive, offseason development environment for players to prepare for the following season. Players will develop hockey skills, game strategy, team systems knowledge and necessary repetition for the skills needed for game play.
The Spring Development Program is open to players of all ages and from any regular-season hockey association. This year's program may include a major team and a minor team at every level from 8U-14U.
2022 Programs Dates
April 5 - May 22, 2022
Spring Thing Tournament*: April 26-29
*10U - 14U Teams Only
Games and/or tournaments may be added as well.
Teams
Teams will consist of up to 20 skaters and four goalies. Tournament teams will consist of 15 players and two goalies.
Practices
All teams will have 15 practices with approximately two practices during the week and one practice on the weekend. Schedules may vary from week to week.
Approximate practice schedules (subject to change):
10U (birth years 2012-13): Mondays & Wednesdays - 5:30-6:30 p.m.
12U (birth years 2010-11): Tuesdays & Thursdays - 6:45-8:00 p.m.
14U (birth years 2008-09): Mondays & Wednesdays - 6:45-8:00 p.m.
All players are invited to skills sessions on Tuesdays from 5:45-6:30 p.m. as well.
Games & Toournaments
Teams may travel to other local rinks for games and/or tournaments, and some teams may travel to out-of-state tournaments. All fees associated with tournaments will be an additional cost.
Players not wanting to travel must declare so during registration. Non-tournament players will still practice with their appropriate team but will not travel or play in tournaments.
10U-14U teams will participate in the Spring Thing tournament at DU on April 25-29.
Practices & Games
8U teams will take part in weekly skills sessions (focusing on skating technique, passing and shooting) as well as cross-ice games without referees on Saturdays.
Approximate schedules (subject to change):
8U Practices/Skill Sessions: Thursdays - 5:30-6:30 p.m.
8U Cross-Ice Games: Saturdays - 7:45-8:45 a.m.
Tryouts
Tryouts are open to players from all regular-season hockey associations. Players will be evaluated during two or three sessions to determine team/level selections.
Cost & Registration
10U - 14U:
Tournament Players: $650/player
Practice Players: $500/player
8U:
All Players: $380/player
